@Bernard – while address book importing was always built in to the hi5 registration path, hi5 has never invited contacts without the user explicitly requesting it.

I don’t know about now, but Hi5 a few years ago was the most annoying spammer. They would invade your address book without a warning and spam your contacts after you signed up. This is how they grew so rapidly in its first couple years. So they are a company that still annoys me.
