Enquisite snags Mark Hoffman as CEO

Longtime tech executive Mark Hoffman has been named the chief executive of search marketing analytics company Enquisite, the company is announcing today.

Hoffman is best known in Silicon Valley as the former CEO of CommerceOne and founder and CEO of Sybase. He has brought aboard Dan Robbins as vice president of marketing and Sylvie Moreau as vice president of sales.

Hoffman was most recently CEO of Everdream, a software-as-a-service company focused on desktop management software. Dell bought the company for an undisclosed price in December. His career in tech stretches back 25 years to 1984, when he started database company Sybase.

“I really like the space Enquisite is in,” said Hoffman, in an interview. “They can track across the Internet and see a wider spectrum of where clicks are coming from and provide more information back to marketers.”

Richard Zwicky, founder of the San Francisco-based company, will remain president. The company was founded in December, 2006 and has about 13 employees. It runs a SAAS subscription business where it provides key analytics to companies that allows them to fine-tune their search rankings and ad campaigns.

Enquisite received $3.2 million in funding this month in a round led by The Entrepreneurs Fund III. Jeff Webber, head of the fund, recruited Hoffman to the CEO position. Hoffman said that the company will focus on sales and marketing.
