Apple’s MobileMe launching Wednesday Night, App Store too?

Apple’s new .Mac replacement MobileMe will launch this Wednesday, July 9 sometime between 6PM and 12AM PST, according to a service update sent out to users.

MobileMe remotely syncs computers and devices such as the iPhone. It also features online storage options as well as productivity tools such as email and calendar services.

The actual wording of the update is as follows:

MobileMe Launch
7/9/2008, 6pm-12am PT

As part of the MobileMe launch, www.mac.com will be taken offline at 6pm PT on Wednesday, July 9th.

Members will be unable to access www.mac.com or any .Mac services during this time with the exception of .Mac Mail accessed via a desktop application, iPhone, or iPod touch.

MobileMe will be available as soon as possible during this maintenance window.

This timeframe makes sense since the iPhone is launching the following day in countries such as New Zealand, as MacRumors points out.

Wednesday is the day some sources are pointing to for the new App Store launch, which of course would mean the 2.0 software as well.

update: The online Apple Store is down right now. Some product is getting ready to launch, but it’s an odd for it to go down this early on a Monday night (Pacific Time). Could it be the App Store already?
