Video: Microsoft creates a boy band to hype PDC 2008

Given all the hype (and letdown) surrounding Microsoft’s recent advertising campaigns, it’s not odd that I’d be posting a Microsoft video that’s been gaining buzz around the Internet. What’s odd is when I sit down to watch it and find that a college friend of mine (who may or may not have been in my fraternity) is one of the five Microsoft boy band members.

Yes, I said boy band. And no, I’m not sure if that disclosure is something to be proud of.

The video, made by Microsoft’s Channel 8, is meant to hype up the Professional Developers Conference (PDC), taking place October 27-30 in Los Angeles, Calif. The conference is buzz-worthy in its own right as Microsoft is apparently going to let developers walk away with hard drives containing an early build of Windows  7, Microsoft’s next operating system.

Watch the video for yourself (below). It certainly beats the Gates/Seinfeld ones in my book (and not just because it’s instant fraternity hazing fodder) — but it’s still no “Developers, developers, developers, developers.”
