Google Talk is failing says Twitter

In the past, when a service I use regularly failed, I’d send out some instant messages to friends to see if they were noticing the same thing. Of course, that’s a problem when the instant messaging service you use goes down, as Google Talk (or “Gchat”) has today. Luckily, with the miracle service that is Twitter Search, I know that I’m not alone.

Looking up the term “Google Talk” or “Gchat” in Twitter Search shows hundred of results from all around the world of system failures. Apparently, this has been going on all morning.

Despite being the name nearly synonymous with the internet these days, Google services are not above failing. Over the summer, its email service, Gmail, went down and it was a huge nightmare for many people who rely heavily on the service. This outage is less intense, but still annoying.

Of course, Twitter can’t fix Google Talk’s issues, or even tell us what the problem really is, but at least we can all bitch about it together.

You can find me on Twitter here along with fellow VentureBeatniks Eric Eldon, Dean Takahashi, Anthony Ha, Chris Morrison and Dan Kaplan. Oh, and we have a VentureBeat account (for our posts) as well.
