The Sunday funnies come to the iPhone

Be honest, do you still subscribe to a newspaper just so you can get the Sunday comics? If so, you may want to consider canceling and just buying your favorite ones in Apple’s App Store instead.

Developer Khalid Shaikh has released 18 popular comic strips, each as their own app for $4.99 a piece. Shaikh says each of these apps is updated with a new comic every day. To view them, you simply load the app and touch the screen to move the comic around.

It’s not entirely clear if Skaikh owns the rights to legally distribute all of these comics (and the App Store page offers no help in getting in contact with him), but I’m going to assume that he does.

It’d be nice to see all these comics in one app, rather than 18. It’d not only save precious room on the iPhone’s screen, it’d save you a lot of money — buying all 18 of these comics will cost you $89.82.
