The tweet heard ’round the world: Obama’s Twitter account comes alive!

It had been two months and six days since the last tweet from Barack Obama’s Twitter account. The world has changed a bit since then — most notably, Mr. Obama is now officially the President of the United States. That, of course, is the likely reason why he (or one of his staffers) was no longer tweeting. But now, he (or one of his staffers) is back.

A few hours ago, the account sent out a message with a link for submitting questions for President Obama to answer during his town hall meeting on Thursday, as Mashable points out. Twitter is hardly the only web medium the Obama camp is using for the event. Google AppEngine, Moderator and YouTube are also being heavily relied on, as TechCrunch notes. But Obama was until very recently the most popular user on Twitter with over a half million followers (CNN has since passed him, and Britney Spears is close), and yet, he wasn’t saying anything.

It’ll be interesting to see if this was a one-time message, and if the account will now go back into hibernation, or if the Obama camp will re-recognize the value of using Twitter to spread a message. It certainly understood its power during the campaign, but we’ll forgive the President and his team if they now have more pressing concerns on their agenda than updating their Twitter status.

I was thinking about setting up a twitter account. I’m a face book user, and log on regularly, but the only thing I really check is the news feed and friends “status”. And I guess that’s what twitter is. Just a quick update on what’s going on from everyone. For further information visit:http://thetwittersecret.com
