AT&T for unlimted everything is $150. No you do not get a choice,,,you HAVE TO have the internet plan. The only thing you can scale down on are the minutes or the text messages. Not to mention APPLE hates AT&T. I have walked into quite a few APPLE stores and asked. They are all looking forward to Verizon getting the I phone. Personally I do not like Apple, I think their products are over priced, ugly and plain looking. You really do not get your money's worth.

I own an Internet development company and employ 8 people. I use the iPhone all the time. Have the 70 plan and have never gone over the minutes. I think I fall under the category of a person who lives in the technical world. I have unlimited access and two other iPhones on my plan. Like I said before, we couldn't go over 150.00 if we tried. All three of our plans are unlimited Internet, 200 texts a month each, mobile to mobile and rollover minutes. The base phone is 70.00 and each additional phone under the family plan is 30.00 plus tax and bull sh/t fees. So this is bad advertising on sprints behalf because I just upgraded my original iPhone to a 3gs. Reason I didn't pick Spint is because they are misleading. I don't repect that. So if they were targeting me, an original iPhone user, then don't lie about the truth or strech it in your favor. Makes me feel like they are not trustworthy. Besides, amazing hardware, over 50,000 applications, movie rentals, music purchases and more, why wouldn't I pick the iPhone. Palm who?

I definitely don't pay $160 per month with my 1st gen iphone. My contract is $70 / month including the $20 data plan with 200 texts. I have over 3000 rollover minutes accrued and my bill has never gone over on data. I did look into buying the new 3gs, but found out that the data plan is $30 with texting being extra so could not justify it.

I took a look at Sprint's website for the plans and found them to be way higher for what I use, so I believe Sprint's ads compare unlimited to unlimited talk which is not accurate of the typical 1st Gen Iphone user who they are targeting. I will definitely not switch.

But on Sprint for that same $130 per month you get 1500 minutes, unlimited texting, unlimited GPS, nights and weekends at 7 as opposed to 9.

I don't see how anyone who knows the facts can argue that Sprint isn't a better deal.

And as for what people are using on the original iPhone, that's pretty irrelevant since you don't have 3G on it.

And that's not taking into account regional issues like the constant dropped calls AT&T has in my area. On Sprint you get free roaming on Verizon's towers.

I wouldn't go that far. The Pre is pretty good, but it's no iPhone. The physical keyboard is nice for the texters and emailers out there but to just say it sucks is pretty off base. The Pre is good for some, the iPhone is good for some. They can coexist…

There is a very small number of iPhone users who are paying anywhere near that $160 rate that Sprint is claiming. It is just a very dishonest ad (are there any honest ads?).

With an iPhone you are required to have an unlimited data plan, so that is a moot point. I've never really been into texting, so 200 is more than enough for me. A lot of my longer calls are made after 9pm, so they fall under unlimited nights and weekends. Also a lot of my friends have iPhones and are on AT&T. I have more rollover minutes than I know what to do with.

Getting unlimited everything and paying another $30 is not worth it to me, plus to me the iPhone is just a better phone.

You mistake “monopoly” for what it really is, quality control. Why do you think Windows is as bloated as it is? Support for thousands upon thousands of devices and ancient programs. Apple cuts through the crap and says “We're going to lock it down to ensure the experience is the same for everyone”, no “Vista CAPABLE” debacle or whatnot, real simple and effective. I run both systems (As well as a few flavors of *Nix) and I have to Say, Apple is really good at providing a solid user experience and preventing confusion among their customers.

Fair enough, however with the growing ubiquity of open wifi as well as the AT&T certified wifi zones, I've never had to rely on standard data rates so charging for “unlimited” data is almost laughable.

I have a 1st gen iPhone running on a goPhone plan that costs me $60 a month. I have never once used up all of the minutes or $$$ in my monthly account even though texting costs me a dime each time and thanks to rollover I have more than $120 worth of credit on my account. I use this as my business phone however any calls to AT&T subscribers is free and not charged so more than half of my calls don't cost me anything at all. It's not very difficult to figure out. Granted, I spent like $600 on the phone non-activated and set it up on the goPhone plan myself but that is an option.
