Zynga buys virtual home startup MyMiniLife

zynga-logoPopular social game maker Zynga announced today that it has acquired MyMiniLife, a social network centered around building and decorating virtual homes and other virtual environments.

Zynga says it’s looking to “integrate the MyMiniLife staff and technology” into its team. An early look at what the San Francisco-based social games company might do with the acquisition can be seen in FarmVille, a game released in June that lets users build farms and visit friends’ farms. The game gets more than 6 million unique users per day, according to Developer Analytics, and we can probably expect to see more Zynga games that center on building and sharing different environments.

MyMiniLife chief executive Sizhao Yang says the company never raised any venture money, though it raised some funding from individual investors, including Payman Pouladdej, the first investor in Etsy and an early investor in IMVU; as well as Michael Powers, who was the first employee at Slide and an early employee at YouTube. MyMiniLife’s founders are all working at Zynga now, Yang says.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed. As for the MyMiniLife site itself, Yang says it has 4 million registered users, who have purchased 130 million virtual goods.

  • Zynga also created Vampire Wars in Facebook which is extremely addicting..it has thousands of players online.
  • Smart move...this is the kind of acquisition that will help their bottom line and feed into their core competency.

it's a shame that none of zynga's competitors can or will act as aggressively.
  • It is amazing the companies can make money off selling better than obtainable items for real $$ in virtual games......*breath* Zynga bought them out because they have to keep improving their games or their fan base drops fast...new content in any game = growth.

Yaay! I love Zynga for creating the Poker Hold'em Texas, I'm now almost addicted to that game and MWars. Maybe there's no way for me to farm aion kinah in Aion because of the games being produced by Zynga 'coz just by opening facebook, you'll be contented and will not seek for any games because there's a lot already and it's all addicting.
